Crete has three airports, the biggest of them is Heraklion International Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis” (HER) (http://www.heraklion-airport.info/), which is directly connected with Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" (ATH) on a daily basis. The flight from Athens lasts 50 minutes. Heraklion International Airport is 4 km from the city center.
There is also Chania Airport (CHQ) (www.chq-airport.gr/en/) , which is directly connected with Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" (ATH) on a daily basis. The flight from Athens lasts 50 minutes, as well. Chania is about 150 km from Heraklion.There are many bus routes from Chania to Heraklion on a daily basis. You can also travel from Chania to Heraklion by taxi, which lasts about 2 hours and costs from 130 to 170 €.
Finally, there is Sitia Airport (JSH), which is directly connected with Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" (ATH) on a daily basis during the summer. The flight from Athens lasts 55 minutes. Sitia is about 130 km Heraklion. There are many bus routes from Sitia to Heraklion on a daily basis. You can also travel from Sitia to Heraklion by taxi, which lasts about 2 hours and 30 minutes and costs about 150 €.

Heraklion Port
You can easily and conveniently travel by a ferry from ATHENS Piraeus port and the nearby islands to Crete. The journey by boat from Piraeus port to Heraklion takes about 8 hours. There are two shipping companies and you can book your tickets online: www.minoan.gr/en/crete and www.anek.gr/en/. For the route from Piraeus Port to Heraklion Port the prices start from 40 € and reach 110 €, depending on your choice for cabin or seat type. As for the nearby islands routes to Heraklion port, the trip duration and cost depends on each island and its distance from Heraklion port.
